62nd Troop Command commands, controls and supervises attached Army National Guard Units to provide trained and equipped units capable of immediate expansion to war time strength and available for service in time of war, National Emergency, or when directed by Joint Forces Headquarters-Alabama in support of Defense Support to Civil Authorities Operations

The largest of four major subordinate commands in the Alabama Army National Guard, the 62nd Troop Command has a large volume of equipment, personnel and materials assigned. Over 4,800 individual Alabama National Guardsmen are assigned to the 62nd Troop Command. Brigadier General Sheryl E. Gordon is the Commander of 62nd Troop Command.
